About The Mix A mix in two parts with a strong contrast in the aproach to creating and defining what is Deep House. The first nine tunes come out of Africa, deep, downtempo and soulful. There’s just not enough African Deep House being played out in the UK and Europe, France being an exception. The quality of work coming from our sisters and brothers in Africa is outstanding. Despite massive support from major names in the global house community, once you get past the likes of Black Coffee, Bucie, Culoe De Song, Wunmi, Tony Alan etc most producers are unknowns. These tunes are African underground house at it’s best, emotional, melodic and reflective of the passion for Deep House in Africa. In contrast, the European deep house vibe, in the second part of the mix, has more pace to it and is rammed full of instantly recognisable names and tunes. I used the tune from Matthew Bandy, with new gospel’s Adrianne Archie on vocal, to crossover from Africa to Europe, via the US. Couldn’t decide which version of Tigerskin's “Voodoo” to use, so we have a playful hybrid of dub and original. I’m a big fan of Edmund, he wraps up the mix in typical tidy fashion, showcasing his rmx skills in the last three tunes. Happiness, love and prosperity [This mix was added on the 14 July 2011]
