lost in musicby Billion Dollar Boys Club31 January 2008I have been going to a club called Space Lab Yellow for a few months now and absolutely love it. It feels like a second home to me. I walk in and I feel the adrenaline bubbling up from my feel as the bass smothers me. I had this place in mind when I made this mix, when it%u2019s about three am, the dance floor is full and everyone is loosing themselves in the music. You close your eyes and feel the music engulf you as you dance. The bass is thumping in time with you heart and you feel a deep connection with the music. The DJ is subtly adjusting the pots on the Urei and working the bass in and out with the isolator while flicking the mids up just at the right time. This is my church, ...read more my therapy, my sanctuary. This mix has been haunting me for months. I have had some of these ideas in my head for even longer and couldn't get them out till now. I recorded this at least 2 other times and listened to it, critiqued it, added and removed tracks, etc. I was finally in the headspace to do it right this afternoon after a very big week. I jumped on the decks to record this this specific version of the mix at about 5pm and it is now it%u2019s 10pm and I haven%u2019t even had dinner yet. I%u2019ve listened to this that much that I don%u2019t even know if it%u2019s any good anymore. It%u2019s been painful and exhausting so I hope you like it. [read less] |

Awesome mix, nice, smooth fading in tracks, permanent rhythm.... LIKE IT A LOT! Bravo! First time I've listened to a mix of yours BBC & you've worked this really well, from start to finish you've built up this mix from some good old disco era tracks to the sound of modern day house. Cool clean sounds through out you can tell how some of those 70's track have influenced your music style today. I personally enjoyed the second half of the music as Ive seen most of your tracklisting and the theme seems to be that percussion driven has which was evident at the end & I enjoyed listening to it. The first half had this raw feel to it like all the tracks seemed like they were form the past but looking at the years next to the titles Im quiet suprised by some of them. Overall good job on constructing the mix I think you done that well & good to hear your style for the first time. I'll get on some of your older mixes I missed out on earlier as they seemed more liek the 2nd half to this mix. great mix m8,i love the deversity, its so easy to get caught up in just new stuff, you really must have thrown your mind open to collate this lot,or the dj at space lab yellow is right off the wall, did you end up ringing out for pizza ? Great mix, a lot of classics I love and tracks I haven't heard before. It flows really well too. Awesome mix dude, loved the originality of it. These types of mixes can often sacrifice a lot just so they sound different and left field but not in this instance. Great selection of music, new and old with some genuinely involving transitions and movements. |
