Track Review by tednor

tednor's avatar Not your usual fare from Mr. Brann: this is a sexy 70's styled spin on "Two Hearts " (which was released some months back). The snippet preview won't do justice to the slow build and late night feel of this one.

Alex Lattimore somehow came up with the line "slippery when wet" and I think it's one of the sexiest hooks I've heard in a while (I laughed a bit, then thought about it, then it stayed in my head forever). The bassline here is that uber-present amalgamation of "Glow of Love" and "Another One Bites the Dust" that I've noticed a lot in the last year. Chris has brilliantly plotted it against Hayes-inspired brass and orchestration. The result is a nostalgic confection of exceptional tastiness. The best part is that it never reduces to "kitsch" it stays thoroughly and enjoyably musical, yet tongue in cheek.

By playing against type, Brann has crafted yet another highlight in a career distinguished by mile marking and unexpected tracks.
