Aaron Bradley - DanceRecords 496553

So this came from a long awaited record order from DanceRecords which had just finally come in. There is a thread about it actually in the forums... I really wanted the order because of the first track I played in the mix. This used to be an anthem @ Industry back in the day and was probably known all over the world.

I started to play this track at my friends house today and because it brought back such good memories, I just had to do a mix. I guess you could say we had a lil' Saturday afternoon party. The mix is a one time shot with lots of cuts, filters, echos, flangers... All of the records are from different genres really, so it gets around a bit... Hope you enjoy!!!

p.s. It's my sisters birthday today, so this one goes out to her!

Aaron Bradley - FunkyHouseBeats Sessions 2

FunkyHouseBeats Sessions 2

Next in this episode of session mixes we have FunkyHouseBeats Sessions 2. The mix was a one-time shot with no planning at all. It was intended to be a deep, Dubby Tech House set all throughout, but that changed about half way in to it. It actually changed a few more times which I'll describe track by track below.
The first track in the mix I've never played really because everyone loves Cevin Fishers version more. Cevin's is a dirty bongo dub that sounds sweet on a good system. Junior Cartier version of "women beat their men" has some crazy low end bass. I played with the filters a bit on this track early as I didn't keep it in the mix too long.
I think I waited about 1 minute before I started to drop the next track which is one of my all time favourite records. Overslept on side B is the one I love to Jack! This track "NO Eject" is a Dubby tech house track with a Q-Tip sample from "Tribe called Quest". Super smooth and dubby! Eh eh uh eh... eh eh uh eh... eh eh uh eh...
Oh... I couldn't wait to drop "El Amor", the next record in the mix as it is another classic favourite of mine. I really enjoy the dubby, deep tech house that has those repetitive female vocal stabs. What the heck is she saying in this track??? This track and "No Eject" really complimented each other. Just follow the bouncing ball...
The next track "Free Funk" is the only track I regret playing in this mix. I didn't mean to grab it and I thought it was another dubby track on Subliminal that I have and love. I mean I love the Jackin shizznit, but this is over the top. I should have got rid of it early in the mix. One amazing thing I noticed is that this tracks vocals didn't overlap the last tracks vocals... they alternated perfectly.
So now I got right back into that dubby tech house flavour with "Snap and Jack", a monster from the man himself - "Hipp-E". Boy this guy is awesome in the tech house scene. I'm hoping to play alongside "Hipp-E" and "Halo" in the new future! I really like this track because it is a bit Jazzy even though it's a big tough one! SIIIIIICK!!
Boom!!! Right into "The Message", another Dubby tech house track by Tony Thomas! So far all the mixes have been pretty tight and I'm really feeling it!! Tony Thomas, Halo and Hipp-E on a flyer for a night... how good would that be!!!
Now I mix in "Da Sunlounge's" - Sherwin Street pretty good, but what a disappointment! This track was just a recent mix of mine and it sounded perfect! I must have spilled something on this side recently, because you hear the needle go over the spill too many times! I clean my records after each set, so I'm puzzled to how this happened. Sorry about that and I think you hear it more because I killed the bass. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO FIX THAT??????
The next track "Don't CHA" is a track I used to play as an opener for those Jackin nights! This has some DEEP BASS inside this track folks! Dubby all the way!!! The art on this record is pretty funky too... truba would love it - wink wink! I just squeezed that one in because I was starring at Da Sunlounge still thinking "Arrrrrr WTF did you do?"
Now I totally back door in "Da Step" into "Don't CHA" pretty nicely I must say :). This is a dubby calypso sounding track that I didn't even know I had. I f'n love this sucker now!!! Can you just picture the drummers in the circle around the fire now???
Why not go with another one similar to the last? I don't know it just worked out that way! I've have never played this track before this mix... or at least that I can remember... This is another bomb from "The Good Guys". Time Stand Still is a great track everyone... a bit wibbly wobbly too.
I kill this next mix with "Dirty Preacher" by DJ Motion. This track and the previous have a very similar sounding horn which helped with a very smooth transition. You can tell I totally look up to guys like Sneak, DJ Dan or Gryphon...
Continuous Cool was in the first record order I did over the net. It was around the summer of 96. Before that I just used to buy vinyl locally. This sound pretty much defined the tracks I used to play when I was 23 at the clubs. If we went shopping for records, I would be like "just grab anything guys that has a high hat or nice clap to it." So old, but so good!
Kenny Dope is the old school man of funk'd up loops and beats! Classical House master mind! New York soul and funk a diva!!! I love this Dubby deep shizzle bo bizzzle S H I T
This last track mixes in nicely... another deep smooth track remixed by Mario J... I think!! That guy used to rock Industry in Toronto from 96' - 2000. Even when the international DJ's came, he would get the crowd way more. So Shaboom good!
... so for sure it didn't go the way I wanted it to, but for some reason after listening to it, it makes pretty good sense! Definitely for the club, but you ALL know me!! Thanks for listening...

Aaron Bradley - FunkyHouseBeats Sessions 1

This is a mix I did on Remembrance day of this past week. It is the first mix I've recorded with my new decks and needles and I'm quite pleased. The tempo is around 129 - 130 bpms I think and the mix is a bit deeper this time. Its starts off deep, funky and a bit jackin, then it goes to a dubby, techy vibe at the end.

A couple of mixes get a tiny little bit loose, but other than that it's pretty solid (I think). It's the first mix on the new decks and a start of a new series of mixes to come. First one - "FunkyHouseBeats Sessions 1"

Aaron Bradley - Agent Stickmando Galactico - Side B

This was a 2.5 hour mix that I did Friday afternoon at home and was a one shot attempt. Since the mix is so big, I broke it up into 2 sides.

The second side (this side) is all newer tracks that are quite quirky and galactic. This is how you get the second part of the name "Galactico". It's ranges from Deep house, Quirky house, Tech house to Galactic house. Hope you enjoy this side.

I'm also dedicating this mix to SqadakTT and his crew!!! This guy has some crazy moves!!! Lets get the video a rockin'

Aaron Bradley - PaintBrush Sessions 1

So we got talking on PHM in the mini chat today about House Music and it's evolution in certain areas. Somehow we got talking about our decks and I had made a comment about using a Paint Brush to fine tune the platter on the turn table when mixing... This got me wanting to play!!!

I went home straight after work and tried out a new mix, first time, one shot! I went away again from what I normally do and played around 129 - 130bpm and played a bit of "this" and "that"... well I think I did. I put a mystery song at the back that is a classic in my area. I'm sure you'll know what it is??? Maybe not???

Hope you enjoy!!!

Aaron Bradley - Gym & Tonic

Here is a new one that I did today. 192 Kbps and 1:04:39 long. This is still the jackin house I usually play, but at 129 bpms maybe ...

a little background below...

k, I'm going to make a long story short with this one... maybe its a short story long???

The decks I use Stanton are STR8-30's which are garbage to say the least and these are what I use to record my sets. Basically they both don't have the 0 -> 2.5 range in their pitch controls. when you move the slider down just past zero, it jumps to 2.5. So I usually put my first 130bpm track to ~132.5 so I'm able to mix if the next track(s) are faster. Slower, and I won't be able to beat match. This is why my jackin' stuff seems really jackin'.

Anyway, I moved the pitch to a bit slower than 0 in this mix and I'll say I like the tempo much more. This has a lil' bit of this, lil' bit of that in it I guess you can say. After I played the Troydon track, I realized that I had a record order which I hadn't even opened yet. First time playing the last 4 tracks and I played with EQ a bunch near the end of the mix too which was kinda silly and fun. Well, hopefully you all enjoy!!

First time playing the last 4 tracks and I played with EQ a bunch near the end of the mix too which was kinda silly and fun. Well, hopefully you all enjoy!!

Aaron Bradley - Peekaboo Pond

So this is a one shot mix and I did it about 2 weeks ago. It has a couple of noisy mixes where some vocals overlapped and it didn't sound to good. Too bad because I enjoyed doing it a lot!!

This is a bit slower than I normally play and there are a few tracks of styles you don't normally hear from me...

I'll edit the list very soon.

Aaron Bradley - Ode De Smooth

I did this mix on Saturday 05/2008 at around 11:00 am. I was thinking "This is the same time that 'Smooth' is running..."

Well, here we are are!!! Congrats to a great site and to hopefully a new ongoing night Ollie!!! Cheers!!

AB

<about the mix>

This mix starts off a bit funky and broken beatish... almost like 90's House breaks. Then the mix goes into is up tempo mix mash of jazzy and tech house slammin beats. I played with the effects a bit and the mixes really sounded like they melted in to one another. Hope you enjoy!

Aaron Bradley - Percolate

I threw this one together today with some older records and some new ones I picked up on Friday. This was a first time attempt so there are a couple bumps and noisy mixes... nevertheless it's too bad.

It's a bit faster than normal for me and it kinda changes style along the way which I usually don't do. Let me know what you think about the tracks. Good enough for the dance floor???
